This book is about World War II and the capture of the island of Iwo Jima. This War first began in September in Europe. The United States only joined the war because the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. They first found out about the isIand of Iwo Jima because there were bombing raids coming from the Japanese. Then the battle of Iwo Jima began on February 19th. But before the battle had even started we already had ships sitting all the way around the island of Iwo Jima. We had captured one of their airfields on Feb.20. Then the Japanese started having Kamikaze attacks to our ships. Our soldiers captured Mount Suribachi and our soldiers marched our flag all the way up to the top of the hill and mounted it there. After that we pretty much had them. All we had to do after that was capture a few more bases and the war ended. The Japanese surrendered.

I give this book a 9 out of 10 and I thought that this book was very interesting.
